In Mérida, Venezuela: At least two dead and several missing due to heavy rains. The mayor of the Antonio Pinto Salinas municipality, Edgar Márquez, pointed out that the bodies of the deceased children, a 6-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, were taken out of the mud by people in the area.

Twitter users report that the roads between Zea, Tovar and Santa Cruz de Mora have suffered landslides and damage in several sectors, while the authorities try to control the situation.

 

The mayor of Tovar, Luis Márquez, described the situation of the rains as “a true tragedy.” “There are victims, there is no communication with Santa Cruz or with Zea. We are isolated, ”he said. For his part, the mayor of Zea in the state of Mérida, indicated that the situation is very difficult due to the effects caused by the rains.

On the other hand, in Santa Cruz de Mora the damages “are enormous”, according to the mayor of the Pinto Salinas municipality, Edgar Márquez.

Likewise, the death of two minors was known, “unfortunately a six-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy died,” said Edgar Márquez, mayor of the Pinto Salinas municipality of Mérida state.

As explained by the mayor, the children died in the El Mirador sector, in Santa Cruz de Mora, when the house they inhabited collapsed due to the waters and they were walled up.
